What are Statins?

Statins are medications that lower your cholesterols by blocking the substance responsible for the formation of cholesterol. Usually, they are the first medications doctors would prescribe to achieve a low-density lipoprotein (LDL) while mildly raising an excellent high-density lipoprotein. Statins are a form of blood fat known as a triglyceride.
